About Us

Our office was established towards the end of 2010 by Gusztáv Mertha, a qualified civil engineer who is the lead designer and supervisor of structural design. He graduated from Budapest Technical University civil engineering department in 1974 and has been practising independently as a structural engineer since 1986. Between 1990 and the first half of 2010 he worked in Germany, running his own office there since 1993.

AThe office’s areas of professional activity include all branches of structural design, from buildings and large-span covered spaces to tensile structures. Materials used include pre-cast and in-situ concrete, steel, aluminium, wood, glass and man-made fabrics. Projects carried out in different countries are designed according to each country’s specific standards and regulations.

In addition to the design of new structures, our office is able to provide structural surveys of existing buildings. Where original design documentation is not available, an assessment of the load-bearing capacity of existing reinforced concrete structures can be complicated and will often involve some demolition or damage to the existing structural frame.

With the use of ultrasonic measuring equipment we are able to complete reinforcement surveys of such structures without the need for opening up, on the basis of which the load-bearing capacity of structural elements can be determined.

Besides structural design and consultation services we also carry out proof checking of structural design documentation by others. Since the beginning of 2008 we have been involved in the checking of structural designs for numerous institutional, industrial and office buildings. Our service draws on the knowledge and experience accumulated during nearly two decades of professional activity in Germany and is carried out in accordance with Hungarian regulations and standards.

We provide high-quality technical expertise on behalf of our clients, resulting in building structures which are economical, long-lasting, aesthetically pleasing and modern.

Design tasks are completed with the aid of the most up-to-date computer systems and software, with programmes including RFEM and RSTAB (Dlubal), EASY (Technet), PBS, and isb-cad (Glaser). Office documentation and correspondence is prepared with MS Office.
